As the year 2022 comes to its end, it is time for many of us (although not all!) to come together and celebrate the commercialized bonanza that we all see at Christmas time, and maybe also take advantage for a little family time. It is curious to watch as events like Christmas become absorbed and adopted into global culture as we are let wondering if the commercialization or the more human aspect will be adopted more successfully.

So, what do YOU want for Christmas?

Here at SCN, we like to encourage debate about progress and that debate has increasingly turned to DIGITALIZATION and SUSTAINABILITY. I’m hoping for both of those (and also that I’ve deserved them!)

Digitalization will hopefully come from our new CRM. You haven’t noticed yet?…well, that’s probably a good thing, as we see that most client management is about drowning you with automated and supposedly “personalised” e-mails, which we are resisting! That said, a better idea of what interests members is always good – although you can also let us know by contacting us!

Sustainability will increasingly be focused on next year and we’d very much like you to be a part of that. The three initial focuses of that will be:

• Is there a business model for plastic transport to REDUCE use of new plastic stock?
• Does legislation and control of Carbon Emissions offer more than simply increased reporting?
• and overall, ….from Greenwashing your businesses to a small grain of sand of action.

…but enough of logistics, as what has really interested so much of the world (and the SCNers) is the FIFA World Cup, as football (no, not “soccer”) has proved to be the happy pill of the people to bring us together even more than an SCN conference! Well done Argentina, and of course France….and above the three winners of SCN’s Sweepstakes: Christian, Bauke and Graham. You prize money is on its way to you

We’re pleased to welcome a new member to SCN this week, as Speedy Active (Pakistan) joins the community.

We are also very pleased to let you know that we are finalising details of our SCN Regional Meeting for LATAM – 2023. Registration will soon be open for our event in CARTAGENA, COLOMBIA in April. Save the date in that new 2023 agenda that is on your desk (or on your phone!) as we further develop the ties between members of our fast growing LATAM community and the rest of the world.

To all SCNers out there (and those who would like to be) many thanks for making 2022 so special. Whatever your religion, creed or colour, may we all wish you a merry festive time. We hope you will be able to enjoy some family time and to get ready for the new year ahead.

Did you know that there is a quick way to ask for HELP in the SCN Community?

Mostly questions from members to members asking if anyone has a good agent in a small market or for a specific type of shipment.

If you’d like to join so you can both ASK questions and of course offer a helping hand  – EVERYONE like people who help 😉 let us know or click on the WhatsApp icon. This will send you to a CHECK group (so we can make sure participants are SCN members)

Don’t have Whatsapp?…..just ask us on WeChat where we have a similar (although less used) group too

We also have a “CHAT” group, to stay sociable with agents. That’s there to make sure the HELP is kept short and sweet.
