Hello once more.

As the old joke goes:

  • Q) What do you call 1000 lawyers at the bottom of the ocean?
  • A) ……a good start!

… joking apart, my opinion of lawyers has never been entirely positive as they seem to go round in circles on past events to see what is justifiable and proven, while the rest of us just roll up our sleeves and get on with stuff. However, that’s not all of it and (after a bit of tongue biting) I’ve thrown myself into my Maritime Law on-line Summer School to give a better perspective on certain conflicts and issues that come up. Many thanks to Blas de Lezo Lawyers for setting it up, who will shortly be on call with legal advice to members who may need it.

Meanwhile, we’re also planning and looking forward to our next CYBERMEETING of SCN members: Digital Visibility, Are YOU being seen? A great chance to connect up with other SCN members and voice your opinion or hear their ideas too. This time round, we want to hear your experiences, successes and frustrations with SOCIAL MEDIA and WEB VISIBILITY. Many of us are not fans of Facebook or LinkedIn, but that really isn’t the point! If you’re still asking yourself “who cares if I’m digitally visible?” it might be time to hear of other opinions just in case. Please join us at a convenient time on Monday.

Among the SCN members, we’re pleased to announce that Shenzhen Anda Shun is branching out and adding their offices in Guangzhou and Qingdao. Also, we’d like to remind you of last week’s new member in Ukraine, Kiy Avia Cargo (Kiev, Ukraine) gives us some professional and needed cover there.

Its not all good news, as Ordan Cargo (Tel Aviv, Israel) tells us of another case of “Man in the Middle” fraud. Glad to be able to share the warning to minimise the possible outfall. Better news from F.W.N (Hamburg, Germany) as they have a new batch of now ex-apprentices joining their ranks. We also have news in from Norman Global (China) regarding congestion in rail services to Europe following post Covid-19 demand, as published on the Loadstar. More SCM headaches!

Can I also draw your attention to that old post suggesting that you update your SCN profile? Wouldn’t it be great that we spoke about you as an example of a visible profile on Monday’s Cybermeeting! While you’re on your screen, take a look at the on-line event of our partner Container xChange: Digital Container Summit in September – come along! I’ll be there (digitally of course)

I’d best leave you all to read through the posts. Drop us an e-mail if you have a minute (or zoom, call etc). It’s always good to hear from you.

Take care and be safe
