12th January, 2021

So, the first SCN newsletter of 2021, after having given you some breathing space over the last couple of weeks.  Many of us seem to be looking with much optimism on what the new year can bring us – after the way it has already started, I think it’s clear that we will need to work at it to keep us on the right track!

Our expectations seem so much higher than in the past: Not so long ago, we’d have just wanted a plane to land safely. We now NEED it to take cargo at a precisely manifested moment and make great coffee for the passengers too (if there are any!). Maybe we need more empathy with those actually “moving things” to understand before attacking. I have written often of my real concerns of the increasing polarisation of opinions and connections in society.  The thought that “everything is binary” can have a subtle truth, but it simply isn’t helpful if we can’t say what we think. Its downright disturbing that we must apply censorship on ourselves to not be left out in the cold. We must start to learn to evaluate points of view again with conversation.

With that in mind, at SCN we want to be more than a platform for logistics professionals to come together and assist in transportation moves – we are a place for healthy and increasingly participative conversation between members. We’re already making plans, in a characteristically optimistic way, to meet up physically in 2021, probably September when the world is a less virus riddled place – and earlier in April for another virtual coming together of minds and faces.

Before then, let us learn from each other on how the world’s trade agreements might affect our cargo flows and where we might focus some commercial attention in the near future. Another SCN Cybermeeting (zoom for the non-initiated!) on the 20th Jan.

Also take a look at two members currently on the crest of the wave. Air & Sea International (Salt Lake City, USA) are pleased to be able to confirm the success story with SCN partner LogixBoard, giving their clients superior interface to their moves. New Globe (India) looks both back over 2020 and onto 2021 clear of the achievements they have made this last year. Well done guys!

Those in our whatsapp groups will already have seen Bati Innovative Logistics (Istanbul, Turkey) and their ability to handle major projects as agent of the Rolldock fleet. Come to think of it….why aren’t more of you getting shipments, help and visibility on our whatsapp group??? Let us know if you are not included.

We’re delighted to be able to welcome a new member into the network, and moreso as this enthusiastic and dynamic comapny in THAILAND is located where we all want to go for our next conference! Welcome to Freightzen (Bankgok, Thailand) as our youngest SCNer. Also, have a quick look through a couple of new members that joined us these last weeks, when many were busy with Christmas, Brexit, or looking for containers in China: Max Wings (Kuwait) and United Global (Karachi, Pakistan). The SCN family keeps growing!

The world’s too loud for you to wait for cargo to drop from the skies….get connected, get involved, get talkin’!

Let’s get started on making this year a good one!

CALL TO ACTION!

.

We have been asked by some members for a list of SCNers who can handle MILITARY and EXPLOSIVE cargos. Many do not want to publicly confirm they handle military for confidentiality reasons. If you do handle this type of goods, please contact us to confirm and we will refer members to each other confidentially. And let us know if you want to see the list.
