Welcome SCNersDear
At the start of 2021, I shared with a few members my “New Year Resolutions” – you know, those impossible promises you make that are forgotten about a week later (when you’re drinking just as much!). There were six of them, now stuck on my noticeboard and although the last (“Save the Planet”) still requires a bit of attention, I’m very pleased that we seem to be making progress on number 1:
- Make SCN a “Forum for Debate and Conversation”
It was very encouraging to be able to host a Cybermeeting with members from Latin America and a shipping line (Evergreen Marine Corp, Mexico) to discuss the current situation and future developments in Ocean freight. My thanks to a very brave Ernesto Cordero for facing the questions and concerns of SCN members leading to a better understanding of where we are going. Many of the challenges are worldwide – but narrowing our sights to this global region allowed us to understand better how we can focus and look for a strategy
For our next SCN Cybermeeting, we turn our attention to Airfreight 2021 – Where are we going from here? We will be joined in some of the meetings by the airline Avianca – and we are interested in having more, so if you know any airlines (!!) please let us know if they can join us and speak from their perspective – and save an hour in your agenda on the 7th April!
Also pleased to be able to share 30 mins with one of our widest covering members, MBS Logistics, as we zoomed in to hear more from their offices in Germany, China, Holland, and associated offices in Portugal. Happy to hear that all is going very well there as the company continues to expand.
Equally pleased to here from Best Services Int (China) as they continue to roll out their quoting platform www.gotofreight.com . While many forwarders ask themselves if their rates should be on line or not, and what that involves BSI have gone and made it happen. Take a look and ask for user access.
Another new member also joins us this week: Activlog (Casablanca, Morocco) joins us as SCN’s youngest member. Welcome to the network and community! Please take a minute to send a quick message to present yourselves to them.
…and finally, we’ve hear of another SCN member just avoiding being defrauded of US$60,000. A quick reminder to us all that we need to be extra careful, especially when there is a change in bank detail. Remember to pick up the phone and check before being pushed into a mistake.
Have a great week!
