21st December, 2020

We’re once again at the time of year when we’re not sure if we should be looking back at how the year has gone or looking towards next year to see what it might bring. Well, maybe this year the choice is less difficult as its been a tough year psicologically – I think we’d all like an “easier job of staying positive”!

That said, now we’ve gotten through the year I invite a little 2020 reflection with a short post, if you can give me 3 or 4 minutes. Please also be part of the debate and add a comment on LinkedIn if you would like to. All and any honest reflection is welcome. Here’s the link….add a comment on LinkedIn!

We’d also like to look back over the last quarter of 2020 with new members that have joined us, as well as those who have left. Click to familiarise yourself with the names – and to make sure you’ve removed the ex-members from your lists. Among those names are two new companies this week: Max Wings Cargo Co joins us from Kuwait and United Global Shipping (Karachi, Pakistan) also becomes a member of our family. Please welcome them in.

Let us not just focus on the new members. Long standing members Holship tells us about the strengthening of their company with the acquisition of Back Up Shipping Services Norway, making Holship an even more solid reference point in Norway and throughout Scandinavia.

Another reflection too on the scale of the shipping industry with Shipmap.org, with a keen eye on the carbon emissions. Will 2021 be the time to sort that out, or will we have other matters on our hands?

Finally, although not all of us celebrate Christmas, and its message has been warped by commercial pressures, may we all wish you some peace and happiness these days with your families and friends….(even if the number around your tables is limited!)

A Very Merry Christmas time – and a Happier 2021 to all of you

Kindest regards from the SCN Team

Apologies for a repeat of the 2019 “Team Photo”. We’ll get together again soon!
