News for SCNers - 14th July, 2021

Hello again,  

Despite the onset of summer, or maybe because of it, its good to see contacts within the network continue to flourish

Our recent SCN Cybermeeting of IT Solutions for forwarders seems to have started and generated debate – not on digitalization and its importance or not, but more HOW to make the steps forward. From our perspective, how can the network of SCN help to connect you all up? We’re already looking into that one.

Also on our minds is the forthcoming European Meet Up in September. This was never going to be an easy event to stage and we continue to arrange all in accordance to the circumstances. Our decision to proceed was mainly due to good roll out of vaccine programs and a lowering of cases. In the last few weeks, due to the opening up of nighttime activity, coinciding with sommer season, there has been an increase in cases especially with younger (not yet vaccinated) ages. Some closures and lock downs have happened particularly in discos and night clubs. We expect that all restaurants and hotels will be operating normally in September (although Dave Lucia might not be able to go disco dancing until the early hours). Vaccinations continue to roll out fast and with temporary measures, we trust that the situation will be under control by August

Our suggestion for the meeting would be to register so that we can see levels of interest – although you might want to delay your flight ticket purchase for 3 or 4 weeks. There is still time for that. Note that the meeting was planned for these dates to allow for an almost exclusively OUTDOORS event with limited numbers. It will go ahead and we’d very much like to catch up and share our SCN plans with you….and to hear of yours!
