Hi
So how’s it all going?
Undoubtedly a very strange week as many of us get used to being confined to our homes and most of us, going just a little up the wall.
I wanted to share some of the many messages coming in from members about how they are working. Most members seem to be confirming that they are giving “service as normal”, even if that service is provided from their homes- although these are clearly not normal times. As airlines cancel flights and vessels cancel port calls, space and booking norms are forgotten about, as are rates. Maybe they could have avoided those price hikes (although I suppose they have their familes to feed too!)
More than the disruption, its also good to consider the more human aspects. Many thanks to Lee (Merzario, UK) for offering to help me, when he has a lot on his shoulders now. Also pleased that Alberto (Segaduanca, Venezuela) is keeping things going in a very positive way despite great difficultes. We’re all in this one together!
I won’t try and add to all the information that we’re receiving on Covid-19, instead let us try and appreciate the human side of it around the globe. Governments around the world are shutting down services and movement. Thanks to members who have sent info from around the world – I invite you all to do the same so we can get your input on how its affecting you. I also urge you to participate in the SCN Whatsapp groups to get a feel for your global community. Let us know if you want to join.
I’d just like to add that next week would have been the SCN annual conference. I wonder if anyone would like to join the SCN team on a “Ciber-Conference” on Friday 27th March. All you’ll need is an internet connection to see all the SCN faces…bring your own cocktail!
Kindest regards – and remember to wash your hands
