In the news this week, SCNers...Dear
As the long hot summer continues (at least here in the northern hemisphere) I wonder how many of you I should be wishing an enjoyable holiday – or even a welcome back.
Judging from our very well attended SCN CYBERMEETINGS last week, there are a lot of you not on the beach and also interested in A.I. My personal take away was that it is a field that needs a greater level of control for certain functions, but there is a lot of software out there, certainly for logistics, that doesnt really get into areas of ethics concern. A bit like noting that “the internet” has some bad bits to it – meaning there that we humans are occasionally the problem! Take a look at the video and let us know what you think.
Very pleased that SCN is a location of dialogue and debate – and that’s something we should all look to. Next up on the Cybermeetings will most probably be a preparatory meeting for the Vietnam conference. I’ve also received requests to look towards SUSTAINABILITY IN LOGISTICS . If anyone has contacts (particularly if interested in joining us in Ho Chi Minh) there is an area we must look at, before legislation hits or the planet crumbles.
We’re pleased to welcome two new members in this newsletter. For Vietnam, HP Global, clearly inspired by our conference. Also from Sri Lanka, United Logistics. A special note here that due to the delicate situation in Sri Lanka, all operations must be reported to be covered by Securityplus! This is not a comment on the quality of our members, but instead a cautious step due to the delicate economic situation of Sri Lanka. We hope to be able to raise this restriction of reporting soon
Apart from that, get yourselves ready for the conference by signing up, booking getting tickets or whatever you have left to arrange. It looks like its going to be a fantastic opportunity to get together again. …..”See you in Vietnam”
Have a great week…
