This large-scale effort involved the delivery of materials for the construction of a hospital in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Project Highlights:
- The shipment, consisting of 40 standard 20-foot containers and two high-cube 40-foot containers, was shipped from the USA to Durban, South Africa, as the port of discharge.
- The typical route from Durban to Johannesburg involves rail transport followed by truck delivery. However, SCN member Dedicated Freight advised against rail due to severe congestion, offering invaluable guidance that saved time and costs.
- Instead, Dedicated Freight arranged an all-truck delivery directly from Durban to Johannesburg, including a one-way empty container drop-off in Johannesburg. Remarkably, the rate for this alternative solution was comparable to the usual rail and motor route, ensuring no added expense.
- The receiver required special delivery arrangements, which Dedicated Freight expertly handled, resulting in significant cost savings for the client.
- To ensure smooth execution, Dedicated Freight’s team personally managed the 355-mile delivery journey from Durban to the job site in Johannesburg, demonstrating exceptional commitment and service.
