ACI Cargo Handles Solar Turbine Shipment

Member News

SCN is proud to spotlight ACI Cargo for the successful handling of a complex shipment involving critical components for a solar turbine project.

In early February 2026, ACI Cargo supervised the arrival, handling, and loading of several oversized and sensitive units at Watco Terminals, including a Motor Control Center, Process Gas Cooler, Pipe Valve Assembly, and additional lifting equipment. Each piece required specialized transport solutions, custom lifting configurations, and coordinated terminal operations to ensure safe handling.

The Process Gas Cooler, in particular, required a custom-built spreader bar and carefully coordinated crane operations, while other large crated units were offloaded using multiple forklifts working in unison. All equipment was inspected upon arrival and confirmed to be in good condition.

Loading operations aboard the M/V Industrial Hobart were carried out over two days, with ship cranes, tailored lifting gear, and detailed securing procedures used to safely stow the cargo. Final inspections confirmed that all packages were properly secured and prepared for the voyage.

The operation involved:
🔹 Careful unloading using forklifts, cranes, and custom lifting gear
🔹 Use of a specially designed spreader bar for oversized cargo
🔹 Coordinated loading into Hold No.1 using ship cranes and multi-point lifting systems
🔹 Professional securing with chains, ratchet straps, and timber supports for voyage safety

Surveyors confirmed that packing, stowage, and securing methods were appropriate and satisfactory for the voyage.

The shipment was completed with proper supervision, safe handling procedures, and full compliance with marine survey standards — reflecting ACI Cargo’s strong project cargo capabilities and attention to operational detail.
