MARKET UPDATE – INDIA |
India |
- In view of the Covid-19 pandemic, India is under lockdown till 31st July 2021 with certain relaxations for essential services.
- Majority of our team members are vaccinated thanks to a corporate drive for everyone safety.
- Our offices are open, but some of us are working from home.
- Despite the challenges, our teams are available for your assistance & continue to handle your shipments professionally without any disruption of services.
|
Air Export
|
- Increase in export volumes have caused backlog in majority of the airports in India.
- Shortage of space has led to increase in airfreight rates by 10% to 20%.
- Freight rates continue to be dynamic, with validity of 2-3 days.
|
Sea Export
|
- The peak season has kicked in and rate increases have been announced. Vessels are going full and are booked for the next 2-3 weeks, resulting a space crunch thus impacting the market.
- The space- and equipment-situation is similar all over Asia.
- FAK rates are being quoted with no guarantee of space by carriers. Rates have also spiked up due to limited space on vessels. Carriers are also hesitating to sign contracts/long-term deals on certain lanes.
- We see limited blank sailings but still a lot of port-omissions and cargo roll-overs.
- Schedule reliability is weak and heavily impacting the trade. Delays are inevitable.
- Port/Rail/Intermodal challenges continue, slowing down the overall supply chains.
- Shipments need to be pre-planned at least 2-3 weeks prior to sailing to combat the current situation and get the cargo moving.
