  MARKET UPDATE – INDIA

      India

  • India Starts opening up more and more each week with norms and guidelines falling in place.

  • Our offices are operational with staff who are double vaccinated as safety is our first priority.

Air Export

  • Tata Sons has won the bid for Air India. An official announcement is awaited.

  • With the Indian festive season approaching, a surge in air freight is expected.

  • Air freight rates are very volatile. With majority of the airlines accepting bookings online, rates can only be confirmed after the booking confirmation. For spot enquiries there are chances of variation in tariff from the time of quoting to the time of booking.

  • There are backlogs at most airports in India, as some traffic from sea is diverted to air freight.

  • Chennai particularly has huge backlog, as the airport is facing issues with shortage in ground handling staff.

  • We will offer solutions from alternate airports, wherever possible.

  • Our team will do the best to explore/ offer the best solution to meet your needs.

  Sea Export

  • Freight rates continue to be volatile due to cut in vessel capacity.

  • Oct 2021: GRI / PSS announced for USA with quantum of USD 1000/container and South America USD 1500/container.

  • Capacity cut on LATAM owing to roll pool at TS-ports for major carriers. SAWC more impacted.

  • The space- and equipment-situation continues across most ICD locations and Major ports.

  • We see limited blank sailings, port-omissions and cargo roll-overs at transhipment ports.

  • Schedule reliability is weak and heavily impacting the trade. Delays are inevitable.

  • Port/Rail/Intermodal challenges continue, slowing down the overall supply chains.

Air-Sea Imports

  • China has Autumn holidays there is huge surge in Air Space demands and Airlines only moving shipments on Express basis. Air Bookings are now being given post 6th October.
  • Europe – MSC is pre-closing bookings without notice so we need to check all rates and bookings our agents take for Ocean imports from Europe.
  • North America – USEC has pendency of 2 weeks and USWC has pendency of 3 weeks now.
  • South America – 4 Weeks Pendency still.
