In the news this week, SCNers...Dear SCNer
TWENTY YEARS! Is that really how long SCN has been around?
With business cycles becoming ever shorter that’s quite an achievement. We of course have to thank Dave Lucia for getting it all started back in 2002 although if the SCN Community has prospered it is thanks to you, the members and your flexibility to the changing market situation that makes it all possible. Never stop looking for new connections and possibilites within SCN.
And what better way to celebrate those twenty years than getting everyone together?! I don’t know about you, but raising a glass of something to a screen on zoom doesn’t quite do it for me these days! Mark the dates of 11th to 14th October on your calendars by which time we are sure that travel will be even more opened up for (almost) everyone as we hit Bangkok. We’re very pleased with how our chosen hotel (chosen a couple of years back!) is detailing its protocols and procedures to make all possible. Please let us know if you plan to come, even if you leave those final details until the situation for you is completly clear.
It is also very positive to see continued, consolidated growth in the community. We are very pleased to welcome WTO’s new Kosovo office as the network spreads into a new country. Also Freightzen expands from Bangkok, ThailandĀ into Vietnam…and get ready for more news from them too.
We continue to feature other markets where SCN has coverage for you, be that a regular traffic, or more probably a sporadic shipment. Uzbekistan. If that’s a place you wouldnt consider for shipments, think again!
That said, it is not all plain sailing in logistics, as I’m sure you’d agree We’re pleased to be able to confirm a “Man in the Middle” cyberfraud between two members was avoided this week, saving one of them over $250k! TAKE CARE with bank details and check. More members commenting on bad service from lines, lack of qualified staff in the industry and many other problems. It all seems like old news.
With many of you asking, I am able to confirm that the staff at Kiy Avia, Ukraine are well despite the devastation that is being unleashed on their country. Let us all hope that the war on Ukraine will end soon – as we also hope other forgotten conflicts around the world continue to kill lives and hope while sowing hate for years and even generations to come
Thank you for being part of the SCN community. Please make your little grain of sand of your world count!
