SCN 20th International Conference Panama City – REPORT

Event News

PANAMA – Live for more…Network for more.

.

Down to earth again. After another blast of a conference, we reflect on the interactions and friendships made. We look at what we have learnt, developed and how we have joined together for a better future. For those who weren’t able to join, a quick recap on what we achieved and what we got up to.

Before the conference work started, we were already hard at networking first by visiting a traditional Emberá community village to learn of their heritage and then for a walking tour of the colonial city to appreciate the architecture and ambience.

No trip to Panama would be complete without seeing the Panama Canal! And we were able to see the workings of Miraflores lock as vessels moved through and up the canal. Those vessels are massive close up! There was also golf for the enthusiasts. All before the official conference start up.

The Welcome Cocktail was the official kick-off to meet and greet old friends and new. All in white – or almost, with traditional dancing too …and some less traditional also by the SCNers.

The Conference was a time to asses the stable growth of SCN as a network and also focus on the new potential entering, allowing established members to welcome them and initiate business basing on focuses and specialities. Our presentation format allows for a brief and very personal overview of the multiple new members.

At SCN, we feel it essential that if we are gathering brilliant minds into a location, we need to share the maximum of experience and thoughts throughout the network. SCN’s BREAKOUT SESSIONS allow for just that. This year, we had a strong interest in AI and Forwarding, conversation guided by Rippey.AI. Another group looked at Freight Rate Volatility, coordinated by rate analysts, Drewry. Our Platinum partner, Riege Software, guided the breakout on TMS – Efficiency and innovation. The fourth group was a progress report on Sustainability in logistics driven forward by Lee Gipson.

We were also fortunate to have a detailed presentation from the Panama Canal Authorities, to add to the details we saw at the canal itself. Its all about the logistics…and the water!

A major part of the conference was dedicated to One-2-One meetings. A focused and personal insight into the possibilites with each agent, as scheduled previously helps promote collaboration and of course iron out any of the issues between members. Hundreds of meetings made. Hundreds more possibilites of collaboration await!

A big thanks to all the SCNers who took part of this step in the network’s story, many of whom had looong journeys to share their enthusiasm and thoughts with us in Panama. If you weren’t able to make it, we apologise if we are making you jealous of the productive and enjoyable conference – make sure you join us next time in our 2025 events!

And to our next events, We’ll shortly be confirming details of our next annual conference in Europe – and before then, SCN’s Regional Meeting in East Africa. If you’re looking to develop there, you should do it with SCN Community, for a closer and more secure way to do business. Networking for MORE!
