SCN once again was pleased to be given a little time of a member this week to explain a bit about their specialities, interests and what they too can give to the network. This time it was Anil from one of our newest members:
UNIVERSAL FREIGHT SYSTEMS, Nairobi, Kenya
The team at Universal Freight Systems, lead by Anil Sharma gives the network some extended cover, not just in Kenya, but throughout Eastern Africa
Kenya has a high trade imbalance, indicated by Anil to be 75% import, 25% export. Further, as a large percentage of the export market is raw material, their focus is clearly on the import side. China is unsuprisingly one of the most important trade lanes handled, where UFS already collaborates with SCN members. However various European markets (UK, Germany, Italy…) also rank high, as do imports from India, Dubai and South Africa. There is also a rising amount of cross-trades handled by UFS, so watch out SCNers for those rate requests!
“Everything is imported” notes Anil, mentioning chemicals, automobile & parts, printing and notably furniture.
So a genuine all rounder, focusing on communication and customers. We welcome warmly UFS to SCN and look forward to networking with you
