In the news this week, SCNers...Dear
What possibly UNITES the world more than global trade and the mixture of cultures, mindsets and products it generates?
Football..??
If you ask the screaming masses in Qatar or gathered round screens all over the world, you may think so. Maybe if we’re calling something with such an ugly side of corruption in FIFA, political influence..to say nothing of the shirt pulling and pushing on the field, it is possibly a bit sad. Its clear that the LACK of sportmanship in certain sports turns many off, as does the hysteria around them – but football’s clearly here to stay , and has to be played somewhere.
This is probably not the place for this debate, but the election of Qatar has made us all think. Personally i don’t think the decision to hold the World Cup in Qatar was a good one, but frankly, what’s better? Yes there are places with better records on certain issues (gay rights, workers rights) but those places had bad records not so long ago. Let’s not be so judgemental when we’re different and look to push for change, even if at a slow pace, instead of ripping down enthusiasm. Let’s try to progress by encouraging change, not naming and shaming so that noone raises a hand to be prominent.
What as this to do with logistics and networking? Well, maybe not much, but its always good to see different people getting along as we are seeing both in this World Cup, and on a smaller scale in our SCN Community. We’re never going to agree on everything, even a free kick decision…but let’s agree to at least be positive in progressing together while we get on as a society.
Anyone else want to participate in our World Cup chat and predictors?….please let us know!
Back to SCNing.
We are very pleased to see more growth in the network:
We will be notifying of further new members shortly as we continue to gradually increase the networks’ size and potential.
Also take a look at our new partner,
- Cocoon FMS – Carbon calculator and off-setting for your green requirements
You may not be fully aware of the need for introducing and controlling your carbon footprint – but you WILL BE, and SCN will be looking into this increasingly in the new year. We will be looking into carbon footprint requirements, measurements and other green and greener aspects of logistics, so you can be contructive about regulations before they start to tie you down, hold you back or push you under.
….remember to get involved and let us know if we can help out…
